Filming locations included: Papua New Guinea, Palau (Micronesia), South Africa, the Red Sea, the Great Barrier Reef, the Bahamas, Cocos Island (Costa Rica), British Columbia, Texas, Indonesia, the Socorro Archipelago (Mexico), California and Florida.
